Apex Sports Authority Grapplers Make Their Mark

by Jonathan Ressler 24. January 2009 11:20

On January 17th, several ASA wrestlers competed in the 1st Annual North Carolina AAU Rookie Championships. The event was open to all wrestlers K-8th in their 1st-3rd year of wrestling. The Lumberton Seadogs played host to the tournament. Over 300 competitors from more than 20 teams participated.

Will Wheeler (Junior 90lbs) and Eric Montoya (Midget 65lbs) both went undefeated on their way to being crowned Tournament Champions. Justin Kidd, also wrestling in the Junior 90lbs Division, fought his way to a 2nd place finish. Justin’s only loss on the day was at the hands of his teammate, Will Wheeler.

In the Schoolboy 105lb Division, Charles Witosky of ASA found himself in a tough battle in the match for 3rd/4th place. After rallying to tie the score just prior to the end of regulation time, Charles was able to pull out a sudden death victory in double over-time. An exhausted and ecstatic Witosky then took his place on the awards stand with a 3rd place finish.

Strong tournament efforts were turned in as well by Seth Geiser, competing in two weigh classes (Junior 75/80) and Cole Johnston (Schoolboy 130).

Congratulations to all our wrestlers for continuing to wrestle hard and represent ASA Wrestling in such an admirable way.

Welcome To ASA's Blog

by Jonathan Ressler 20. January 2009 10:40
Welcome to Apex Sports Authority’s Cougar Tracks Blog! We will be updating this blog frequently to let everyone know what is happening at ASA. This blog will only be as good as the people who write on it so feel free to register and post your comments and thoughts about ASA and anything else you want to share.

As you may know we recently had our elections and added a bunch of new member to our Board which we are very excited about. These six new Board members are excited to get to work and make ASA a great organization for our kids. Congratulations to TJ DeLuca, Jackie DeLuca, Bob Keck, Amy Lindley, John Mitchell and Scott Tunley as the newest members of the Board.

We also elected some new members to the Executive Board and are excited about some of the lofty goals and ideas we have for the coming years. Raising money, buying land, building fields and facilities, adding sports and a lot more are all part of our future plans. In order to do all of these things we are going to need your help and we are hopeful that more families and individuals will get involved and help us do this for our kids.

Stay tuned to this blog for more information about all of the exciting projects we are working on.
